It is a regulatory requirement for trustees of a self managed superannuation fund to have the super fund audited each financial year.  The purpose of an audit of a SMSF is to provide an independent report to the trustees that there are no material errors in the financial statements and that any SIS Act breaches are identified to enable the trustee to rectify them.
